(More customer reviews)I purchased the Grillin' Pro 4000 and the grill cover in September of 2008. I thought the price was good for a grill of this size and with the features it had. My first impressions of this grill were somewhat favorable, but I have had enough trouble with it to dissuade me from recommending it. The assembly is fairly easy and it went together with no problem. All the parts were present and the directions were OK. The first issue I had with it was that the temperature control is not very good, in that if you want to keep a low heat over the entire cooking area, the burners do not dial down enough to do that. With all four burners on the lowest settings, the cooking surface is just too hot for many foods, such as thick steaks. Another issue, as pointed out by sme other reviewers, is that the temperaure gauge seems to read too high. I've not checked the calibration, but I would say from experience that it does read high. Another problem that I've experienced is that the wind - even a light one, tends to blow out the flame. I've had many different types of grills over the years and have never had as severe a wind sensitivity problem on any others as this grill has. Another annoyance is that there is no actual handle on the side opposite the wheels, so in order to move it around, you have to grab on to the service tray, which makes a lousy handle and is not securely enough attached for this purpose. The cover has also started to come apart at the seems and wasn't really worth the cost IMHO. But the greatest issue I've had is the regulator failed after about six months and I had to send for a replacement. It took more than one contact to the manufacturer, and several weeks before I received a new regulator, but they did replace it under warranty. After about another six months, the replacement regulator failed as well. The manufacturer refused to replace it this time because it had been over a year from the original purchase date, despite the fact that the replacement regulator they sent me was clearly defective and less than 6 months old. I had only used it a half dozen times or so before it failed. I guess technically they are within their rights to deny this as a warranty item, being just over a year from original purchase, but frankly I was surprised that the company would take this stance for the cost of a new regulator. I probably will repair it myself, since the cost of a new regulator is not that great, and it is still essentially a new grill. I won't buy another Char Griller, though.
